Patriot Land and Wildlife in conjunction with Bluewing Environmental Solutions is proud to announce that Patriot LWM is now the official certified installer for the revolutionary BioHaven Floating Island systems in Maryland. Modeled after natural floating islands in Wisconsin, BioHaven Floating Islands are made of recycled plastic and are a new, innovative technology that performs multiple functions in a waterway. They clean the water, improve wildlife habitat and beautify a waterscape. Their recycled plastic mesh provides a concentrated surface area for microbes to colonize and soak up nutrients from the water.BioHavens do five things:
- remove pollutants from a waterway, including nitrates, phosphates, ammonia and heavy metals
- provide critical riparian edge habitat - in fact, new land mass for use by all kinds ofcreatures, from microbes to humans
- sequester carbon and othergreenhouse gases
- provide wave mitigation and erosioncontrol
- beautify a waterscape
